CITY BREAK TO BREMEN

You can marvel at one of the largest rhododendron collections in the world at the 46-hectare Rhododendron-Park Bremen. In the flowering period of May and June in particular, the park dazzles in an ocean of colour.

Right outside the door of the Parkhotel is Bremen’s second-largest park, the Bürgerpark. Its large size offers plenty of space for relaxation and extensive walks, as well as boat rental, minigolf and an animal enclosure.

The donkey, dog, cat and rooster are without doubt the best-known animals in Bremen. The four Town Musicians have been standing to the left of Bremen City Hall since 1953. Those looking for a bit of luck or who want to make a wish can touch the donkey’s front legs.

Bremen City Hall and the statue of Roland have been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004 as cultural monuments. Bremen City Hall is the only city hall in the world to hold this title. The stone statue of Roland has been Bremen’s guardian of justice and freedom since 1404. The giant statue of the knight measures ten metres and is the largest free-standing statue from the German Middle Ages.

At the interactive Universum museum, scientific phenomena both big and small concerning space travel, robots, the human body, animals and much more can be investigated and tested.

The Bürgerpark and its Hollersee are right outside the Parkhotel Bremen. But the spa park has even more to offer, including the animal enclosure, home to local animal and bird species that are not easily observed in the wild.

With the Weser and Bürgerpark, along with a rich mix of tradition and a cosmopolitan feel, Bremen is a very special and worthwhile destination for a city break.

As well as sightseeing and boat tours on the Weser, walks around town, and fantastic restaurants, Bremen has a number of cultural highlights. Visit the Kunsthalle art gallery, for example, the Übersee-Museum or Universum Bremen with the whole family.

Must-sees include the Town Musicians of Bremen, of course, but also the magnificent City Hall and statue of Roland, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Schnoor district, Marktplatz and Böttcherstrasse are also very much worth visiting.
